My name is Fabio D’Apice and I am a psychotherapist with a psychoanalytic training rooted in the Freudian tradition.
My clinical work is also informed by the thinking of Melanie Klein, Wilfred Bion, Donald Meltzer, Donald Winnicott, and John Bowlby. Alongside my psychoanalytic practice, I specialise in psychosexual and relationship psychotherapy.
I work with individuals, couples, and diverse relationship constellations including LGBTQ+ clients, and people in open, polyamorous, and non monogamous relationships. I support people who may be struggling with a wide range of sexual and relational difficulties, including erectile dysfunction, rapid or delayed ejaculation, anxiety around sex and intimacy, loss of desire, orgasmic or anorgasmic difficulties, fears around lack of sexual experience, sexual phobias or aversions, pornography related concerns, compulsive sexual behaviours, and questions or insecurities around sexual orientation.
I also work with experiences of sexual abuse or assault, trauma, addictions, codependency, affairs, marital breakdowns, and the emotional complexities that arise within open relationships, polyamory, kink, and BDSM. I have experience working with vulval pain conditions, vaginismus, dyspareunia or pain during intercourse, and sexual health related issues.
I understand psychosexual difficulties as rarely being purely physical. They often involve psychological, emotional, relational, and unconscious dimensions. My aim is to help you develop a deeper understanding of your sexual and relational experiences, and to work collaboratively towards meaningful and sustainable change, supporting you in moving towards a more satisfying and authentic sex and relationship life.
I offer a confidential, respectful, and judgment free space in which these often difficult conversations can take place, away from the fear of sexuality and intimacy being treated as taboo subjects.
I am a Registered Member of the College of Sexual and Relationship Therapists (COSRT), an Accredited Member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), a member of the International Society for the Psychoanalytic Study of Organisations (ISPSO), and a member of the British Psychological Society (BPS). My work is bound by the ethical codes of the BPS, BACP, and COSRT. I am a clinical supervisor, I receive ongoing clinical supervision myself, and I attend regular professional development workshops. I am fully insured.
I offer integrative clinical supervision to trainee therapists and experienced practitioners, both individually and in groups. I work in English, Italian, and Spanish.
I am currently enrolled in a PhD in Counselling Psychology. My doctoral research focuses on the psychological and relational difficulties encountered within polyamorous and open relationships, with particular attention to the presence of neurodiversity. In addition to my clinical and supervisory work, I run therapeutic retreats for couples, trouples, and people in polyamorous relationships.
